These are pictures of the Drifter in different
stages of completion. The ones taken outdoors show a little test
run in the driveway before I sent the body work away for painting.
Jo helping me take the front end apart.
Removing the head light.
The fat man himself. LOL.
Trial fitting the handlebars. Notice holes drill in top clamp.
Hope it doesn't fall over.
Front forks all apart. Sending the lower fork tubes away for chroming.
Replacing steering bearings.
Some of the stuff back from the chromer’s.
Sanding the cylinder fins for a fresh look.
I was holding this lower clamp cover in
the bright sunlight. If you look in the centre you will see the discoloration
of the chrome. Not sure if it's from surface rust, could be from
exposure to salty ocean air. Who knows. However, I sent the two upper
fork covers and two lower fork covers and the lower clamp away to
be re-chromed.
Same as the pic above.
The front end come back together.
Handlebars installed. Since then I have replaced the stock black throttle cable
with a braided stainless steel cable. Looks very nice.
Test run before sending the body work away for paint.
