Me and my Dad

It all started in the 70’s when my dear old dad took pity on
me and bought me my first Malaguti moped for $75. Remember those? Had
to
pedal to start it. Needless to say the moped wasn't new, though looking
back, at least it was all there! The first thing I did was clean
the bike with a toothbrush, can of gas (should have had a match!)
and lots of elbow grease. After a long day cleaning and waxing, it
looked good but wouldn't run. I spent $40 at the local moped shop
(a fortune to a teen at
the time) but still it only ran for a couple of weeks. With no money left, I
decided it was time I learned
how to fix the bike myself. And so my career began…
After working on countless bikes in the backyard, I graduated to muscle cars.
You know, V8 power, real power. With a machinist course under my belt, my interest
in cars and in building
performance motors grew: 340 Dodge motors, 350 Chevs, 400 small blocks with all
the goodies, steel
crank, 10/1 compression, Alum risers, electric fuel pumps, electric fans (all
power robbing stuff), 202
valves, 391 gears with four speeds, Arghhhh!
I toyed with automotive mechanic work after training at community college, but
soon realized what I really wanted was to be in business for myself. So, in 1996,
I ran my first ad
in the local newspaper, looking to buy old snowmobiles to repair and sell. It
wasn't long before the
business grew and I had the shop full of bikes, ATVs and sleds and lots of new
friends. I took a motorcycle
repair course to add to my training. With my background in mechanical repair,
and my own personal interest
in bikes, the business focus shifted to deal mainly with pre-owned motorcycle
sales. In 2008, we sold
130 bikes to customers throughout Atlantic Canada.
I take a lot of care in giving each bike a thorough cleaning (don't use gas anymore!)
and complete mechanical check-over before posting them for sale. I take pride
in my work.
I want my customers to get a quality product and to feel confident about their
purchase.
